Maritime transport is one of the main modals for international transport, and it occurs through boats. It is commonly used for the transport of people and goods for long distances.

In this sense, it should be mentioned that maritime transport is the oldest type of transport, and it has been very important, since antiquity, for the transport of people, as well as for trade development.

It is the least polluting means of transport when considering the volume transported. The maritime modal has some defining characteristics:

  • It enables the movement of large products.
  • It costs less than other modals to transport a large volume of goods.
  • Constant frequency of routes to ports around the world.
